Rezumat: | This paper attempts to draw the attention to two manuscripts of great importance for the Romanian biblical tradition: manuscript 45, or „Milescuʼs translation” and manuscript 4389, or „Panoneanuʼs translation”. These texts represent the first complete translation of the Old Testament into Romanian language. Manuscript 45 and Manuscript 4389 reflect the two major lines that frames the Romanian biblical tradition: the first one for the earlier Greek influence, and the second one for the Slavonic lingvistically and cultural influence. My target is to show that these texts have a great artistic and historical value. The ultimate purpose of the Romanian biblical and philological studies is the production of a critical edition containing a text most closely approximating the original. Therefore, these manuscripts represent major objectives of the textual criticʼs work. The objective of this overview is to serve as a point of departure for further research. |
