Rezumat:[Biblical Correspondences in Ion Creangă’s Fairy Tales]
Despite the rich critical tradition on Ion Creangă’s literary work, only a few studies were interested in capturing the impact that religious education had on the writer’s style. Considered of secondary importance in relation to the discovery of the linguistic resources of orality, a study area in which such linguists as Iorgu Iordan and G. I. Tohăneanu excelled, the search for the cult sources of Creangă’s literary craft did not enjoy the interest of many scholars, because the main difficulty of this type of analysis is to attain a precise method of distinguishing what aspects are related to various sources. The hypothesis adopted in the present paper is that the Bible exerted a remarkable influence on Creangă’s style. The main function of the Biblical elements infused in the fabric of the literary narratives is to achieve humorous effects. The Biblisms are predominantly inserted in the dialogues among the characters and outline the writer’s aim to mimic, for parodic reasons, the elevated and distinguished style of Biblical books like the Psalms, the Proverbs, and the Gospels.
