| Rezumat: | [From theoretical syntax to computational syntax. Methods and prospects] Modern syntax theorists and authors of syntactic computational models start their research from Noam Chomsky. But the similarities end here. The two areas are like conducted in two parallel worlds, each with different references, different starting point and different purpose. Theoretical syntax tries to build models as appropriate as possible for the complexity and variety of natural language, or is concerned with the genesis of syntactical structures in the human mind, with the description of the faculty of language. Nowadays, computational models are designed for the formalization of the same phenomenon of the natural language so that it can be stored and modeled by computer programs. Neither of the two tasks is easy or less important; without natural language processing performances can not be achieved in machine translation and free flow of inter-lingua information. The syntactical analysis is one of syntagmatic type, the signs chain is considered as being organized in a hierarchical structure based on subordination (dependence). So what follows for each theoretical or computational model are different types of trees. We will present some models that, despite differences in method and purpose, reach surprisingly similar syntax trees. |
