| Rezumat: | When we talk about the great poets of Ancient Rome, we talk about Vergil, Horace, maybe even about Catul, but the one who was evoked the most, the one who, inspired by the Muses, was himself, at his turn, a source of inspiration for many writers across the centuries is undoubtedly Ovid. There is nothing unexpected in this, because Ovid, as compared to the authors mentioned above, is the first poet known on the actual land of our country; in his works, historians found important information about our ancestors on these lands, and his works represented a real source for the medieval chronicles. The present paper centers it’s analyse on the reflection of Ovid’s image in the works of the medieval writers, aiming to offer a panoramical view of the manner in which medieval chronicle writers as Nicholaus Olachus, Miron Costin, Dimitrie Cantemir et all. understood, interpreted and valorised not only Ovid’s poetical heritage, but also the fascinating and misterious story of his life. A life in which carmen et error might have been the cause of an interior tragedy, but, nevertheless, they certainly were the catalysers for his eternal glory. |
