Rezumat:[Demystifying the Literary Reportage. A Pragmatic Approach to the Literature – Journalism Binomial] This paper aims to suggest a new approach to an old debate regarding the status of print media reportage and its affiliation, on the one hand to journalistic genres, and to literary genres on the other. While in the field of literature, this type of text has been canonically assigned to a category of “peripheral literature”, in journalism it is considered one of the discourses that can prove the value of a journalist. Our proposal to re-evaluate the status of the print media reportage is based on the need to “update” some of the concepts regarding the literature – journalism binomial. Researchers in both fields cannot appeal anymore to the now obsolete distinction between fiction and reality, or to the evaluation of reportage through the lens and canons of literature. In the last decades, journalistic language, as a form of public communication, has accumulated sufficient traits to claim a reconsideration of the above mentioned relation and a “fairer” comparison. Thus, an analysis of the print media reportage should be completed with more flexible views from functional stylistics and pragmatics, highlighting the triadic relation sender – message – receiver, a crucial one in journalistic discourses.
