Rezumat:[Eugen Simion, among Theory, Living and Confession] Nowadays, when biographical literature almost captures the literary arts, the diary responds primarily to a problem of the deepest self-exhibition, of confession and confrontation with an unseen alter-ego. In these circumstances, Eugen Simion’s Timpul trăirii, timpul mărturisirii (A Time for Living, a Time for Confession) is not a daily diary as Maiorescu’s, but a text meant to be published and marked by certain constraints that do not belong to this kind of genre. The secret of the Parisian diary, if there is one, can be deciphered by analyzing the critical work, Eugen Simion being an exegete and a theorist of confessional literature with fundamental contributions in the field. Therefore, relying on a rigorous theoretical basis, the diary-writer creates a text that highlights the self-scriptural stances located between the native and the temporary home adoption cultural representations. Assuming that the recollections are intellectually filtered, censoring the affective, and assuming that the critical work and the diary are related through the theme and even through the type of confession, the paper aims to identify the authorial profile built in the Parisian diary and the “diaristic” themes and speech peculiarities, relying on an interdisciplinary methodology of analysis, which includes biographical related theories and theories of identity and otherness.
