In the present study we aim to describe the existing relationship between a proper name and the person’s assumed literary pseudonym. The usual function performed by proper names is to refer to someone, to designate that person. Our attempt is to debate in its details the problem whether proper names have other meanings, besides the one of concrete designation. Theories concerning the semantics of proper names have evolved, many of them starting from grounds situated in philosophy and logic, yet coming to land upon the field of linguistics. The status earned in time by literary pseudonyms is also the object of our study. Literary onomastics is the science dedicated to the study of proper names existing in literature. When appearing within a literary text, proper names do acquire intrinsically a special status, because they come to be compared to the nouns which do not belong to the realm of literary communication.
Dans ce travail nous essayerons de présenter la relation nom propre – nom littéraire. La fonction des noms propres est celle de référer, de dénoter un certain objet. Nous essayerons de débattre en détail le problème de savoir si les noms propres ont ou non de sens. Il y a une évolution des théories liées à la sémantique du nom propre, beaucoup d’entre elles en partant du niveau philosophique et logique et en arrivant sur le terrain linguistique. Nous aurons aussi en vue le statut du nom littéraire. La science qui s’occupe de l’étude des noms propres s’appelle onomastique littéraire. Les noms propres, par leur apparition dans un texte littéraire, en comparaison avec les noms qui n’appartiennent pas au domaine de la communication littéraire, ont acquis un statut spécial.
