Valcea Cristina lucrează ca lector la Facultatea de Litere a universității Transilvania din Brașov și domeniile ei de interes sunt: lingvistica, sociolingvistica, ESP, strategii de învățare a limbii engleze. Este deasemenea interesată de comunicarea mass-media și și-a manifestat un interes tot mai crescut pentru reprezentările sociale ale bărbaților și femeilor in mass-media românești.
