| Rezumat: | Contemporary names of Italian schools stem from a culture of solid education and participation in the well-being of the nation, which was widespread in the nineteenth century. From the onomastic guidelines established by Royal Decree in 1865, the school-naming practice developed in the direction of using anthroponyms aimed at reinforcing the symbolic meaning of the school as an institution. The natural consequence was that people became more involved emotionally in their relationship with schools as seats of learning and repositories of personal memories. What was initially a mere project grew into a tradition, a fortunate idea that seems to produce positive effects even nowadays. |
