Rezumat: | The observation of Charles Mauron (From obsessive metaphors to personal myth) concerning Racine’s theatre is also valid for Arrabal. We can read his entire works “like a single musical score displaying the variations of a single dramatic situation”. The Arrabal’s attitude regarding dramatic writing is not obedient, being consistent with his style and his non-conformist approach to the theatrical act, considering it as the best way for free expressing, without prejudices or barriers. Although didascalias can describe in detail the future representation, the dramatic text is not complete without the director’s mise en scene and the actor’s performance. Arrabal was surprised because he hasn’t seen any performance corresponding to his interior mise en scene. However he does not believe in the supremacy of dramatic text and leaves the director to create freely, in accordance with his inner world. The background of the Arrabal’s world is Hispanic, but also we should not ignore his exile experience in France. “There are no great works without exile.” – the playwright said in an interview for the Romanian Television. For Arrabal, theater is not entertainment. It includes “feedback” and, therefore, the author submits audience of his plays to real initiation. |
