| Rezumat: | The paper presents a new critical perspective on Mateiu I. Caragiale’s poems. The interpretation focuses on both the symbolic level of the terminology and the structures of literary imagery that can be depicted in the sonnets. We have tried to identify the realities on which the fiction grafted onto and, in this regard, we have identified few medieval patterns both national and occidental ones that may function as starting point in any critical approach. The figure of Negru Vodă is brought to attention as it may help identifying a specificity of the lyrical “coat of arms”. Moreover, we suggest – for the first time in Romanian critique – an interesting approach of the lyrical figures to the medieval one of the “prince of the world”. |
