| Rezumat: | The article deals with the first novel Vendredi ou les limbes du Pacifique (1967) and its new version for children Vendredi ou la vie sauvage (1971) in the numerous re-writings made by Michel Tournier on his own and other writers’ works. After having recalled some differences between the two texts, their incipit has been analysed. This analysis has pointed out the changes made by the author in this operation of self-translation such as the various changes on the lexical, morphological and syntactical fields in this second version. Although limited to a single abstract, such a comparative study has revealed Tournier’s choice to simplify and emend the complex and sometimes too much technical style of his first Vendredi. In fact he obtained an essential and agile writing, simpler than the former in the second version. This “primaire” style, far from impoverishing this version, has made it better, giving evidence the “evolution de son art”. |
