| Rezumat: | Research On the Relation Between Literary Language and Popular/Traditional Speech: The basis of what we call ‚national language’ is made of a dialectical unit which, thanks to several historical factors, in time, gains an advantage over other dialectical units of the same language. When talking about the Romanian national language, the prevaling unit was the‚ Dacoromanian’ dialect. Apart from ‚Dacoromanian’, Romanian has three other dialects that are spoken South of The Danube: Aromanian, Meglenoromanian and Istroromanian. There is a close relation (mutual influence) between the best developed aspect of the national language, the‚ literary language’, and its dialects. The users of different dialects face a difficult and long process when learning the literary language. The first phase of the contact between the dialects and the literary language is characterized by the use of many neologisms in the dialects, which leads to a kind of‚ lexical uniformity’, where the dialect can be noticed at the phonetic level- the new words are altered under the influence of the phonetic system of each dialect. Along with this dialectical variation- as a form of horizontal stratification of the national language- we can notice a social variation, as a form of vertical stratification of the national language. The ,sociolects’, as forms of this variation, have in turn, several variants: slang, professional speeches. The territorial variants - the dialects- appear as a result of the fact that the users of a certain language are spread over vast territories, while the social variants - the sociolects – are characteristic to certain social categories. |
