Rezumat: | Cioran cannot be deeply understood if we avoid the texts and books he published in his early years. Before being considered by Saint-John Perse the greatest French novelist since Paul Valery, Cioran had established himself as writer and thinker in his maternal language. It is beyond any doubt that Cioran’s greatest chance was called the French language and culture. Without this conversion of identity he would have remained almost unknown, and his texts, although rarified in language throughout his last Romanian editions, would have never reached the suggestion force and substantiality of that ecriture his most famous commentators talk about. |
