Rezumat:[Romanian contributions to Catalan and Occitan studies]
Our research is dedicated to the overview, within the Romanian linguistic environment, of the main contributions of Catalan and Occitan studies, from the beginning until present. The main resource used for this research was The Romanian Linguistic Bibliography (RLB). We also beneficiated of online information by means of Google and of materials provided by the Iberoromance Languages and Literatures Centre within the Romance Linguistics Department from the University of Bucharest. According to our research, there are few studies dedicated to the aforementioned languages (especially compared to similar studies dedicated to „major” Romance languages) represented mainly by short articles and a few monographs and grammars. The linguistic interest both in Catalan and Occitan florished between 1970 and 1980 and decreased afterwards, in the last decade of the 20th century. The interest for Occitan studies regressed in the 21st century as well, but the Catalan studies revived, based on the more than 50 years of teaching tradition at the University of Bucharest, where Catalan language is a main discipline, also integrated into a master degree programme. This different evolution should also be seen in relation to the distinct status of each of the languages in the territory / territories where they are spoken, but also (implicitly) with the specific prestige in Europe and worldwide. Our article goes beyond the boundaries of a research dedicated to contributions from the strictly linguistic field, the discussion being developed also from a literary, historical and, broadly, cultural point of view.
