Rezumat:In this paper, some biographical data are presented about the three kings who ascended the Norwegian throne in the 20th century: King Haakon VII, King Olav V and King Harald V. Although he was an immigrant, King Haakon had a strong relationship with the people, which was due to the egalitarian policy of the Royal House. The Royal Family has always been a national symbol and all the three kings contributed to the increasing popularity of the monarchy by political sagacity and their humane qualities. Although at the beginning of the 21st century a part of the population favours a republic, the monarchy is still strong, with the head of state following the motto “All for Norway” (“Alt for Norge”).
