La présente contribution se donne pour objet de renseigner la notion d’exemple (sa théorie aussi) à partir d’une enquête relative à la phronèsis – cette intelligence de et dans l’action. L’auteur y montre qu’on ne peut penser la phronèsis sans exemple, c’est-à-dire sans l’incarner dans celui-là même qui la met en pratique. Mais aussi, qu’en matière d’éducation morale le phronimos, figure excellente du jugement droit et du bien vivre, se révèle d’une indéniable ambiguïté. Somme toute, cette réflexion sur la phronèsis du phronimos donne l’occasion de soulever certaines questions cruciales sur la place de l’expérience, la pratique du jugement et l’apprentissage de la liberté.
The present contribution studies the concept and the theory of example starting from an analysis of the phronèsis – the intelligence of and in the action. We show that we cannot think the phronèsis without examples, i.e. without incarnating it into the one who puts it in practice. We also prove that – as content of the moral education – the phronimos, key figure of right judgment and eu zèn, appears of an undeniable ambiguity. This reflexion on the phronèsis of the phronimos gives the opportunity to raise several crucial questions on the role of the experiment, the usage of the practical judgment and the acquisition of freedom.
