Abstract: | [Lexicological considerations on the noun chit in Romanian biblical translations] In this study we aim to analyze the changes in the Romanian biblical versions, regarding the translation of the Greek noun κῆτος, entered in the Romanian language through old Slavic kitŭ, which appears in many Old Testament books and in the Gospel of Matthew. We found some conceptual differences in translation, concretized either by literally translating the term or by rendering it by Romanian equivalents, easily perceived by the readers. |
