Abstract: | [The present paper focuses on the unusually extensive use of the infinitive in the manuscript Life of Scanderbeg translated from Italian into Romanian in 1763, and attempts to accurately place it within the history of the Romanian infinitive. In order to attain this goal, this research takes into consideration the circumstances in which the translation was carried out, examines the extent to which the Romanian text follows its Italian source, and takes into account the variable use of the infinitive in old Romanian (16th–18th centuries).] |
