| Abstract: | This text discusses the evolution of terms that present (intrinsic, but also contextual) affinities towards polysemy during the translation act. One can observe how in the case of certain words, with a broad or supple semantic spectrum, a given list of equivalents from various languages may exhibit a largely comparable behaviour. As a result of the requirements of the translation process (in particular when it comes to biblical translations), such terms may earn new or enhanced semantic values. |
