Abstract: | Metropolitan Dosoftei printed Viaţa şi petreacerea svinţilor between 1682 and 1686 in Iaşi. Besides the special value of this printing in the process of the national and cultural revival, Dosoftei’s writing offers an important inedited material to the researchers not only due to the lexical content but also due to the phonetic, morphological and syntactic phenomena that grant uniqueness not only to Viaţa şi petreacerea svinţilor but also to his other works. Some scripts in this text set problems of interpretation regarding their phonologic value. These problems are not characteristic only to Dosoftei’s writings but also to the Romanian texts written in the Cyrillic alphabet. One of the most important is that of interpreting scripts ъ and ѫ that we have analyzed in this article as we consider, according to G. Ivănescu’s research, that Dosoftei established the value of ă for ъ and the value of î (â) for ѫ, a norm adopted in all the following printings with Cyrillic alphabet. These scripts reflect not only certain phonetic rules but also a real pronunciation that can be met even today in the Moldavian speech. |
