| Rezumat: | [Onymic convergences and identities in Romanian toponymy] Most Moldavian toponyms are of Romanian origin, both on the level of content and of form. Under all their linguistic aspects, place names in the region delimited by the Prut and Nistru rivers display features that are common to the other toponyms in the Daco-Romanian space, thereby being part of the general toponomastic system of the Romanian language and culture. The identity of toponyms in Romanian space lies, first and foremost, in the unity of the language, culture and traditions of the Romanian people. The shared economic and sociohistorical environment, the similar lifestyle and the analogous physical-geographical conditions are the factors that have engendered the appearance of akin designations and structural patterns in Romanian toponymy. |
