| Rezumat: | The letters sent by Sever Pop to Sextil Puşcariu, his professor, then his director, illustrate two stages of his activity: his formation as a young dialectologist and that of making Atlasul lingvistic român I (The Romanian Linguistic Atlas I). The article refers to the first stage, when Sever Pop benefited by a scholarship in Paris, between 1925 and 1927. During the first year, after a passionate and tenacious work, he achieved a solid theoretical background confirmed by his work, Buts et mêthodes d’enquêtes dialectales, written when he was only 25 years old. The second year was dedicated to the great dialectal inquiries which were taking place in Europe. The letters, real activity reports, spotlight his attachment to Muzeul Limbii Române (The Romanian Language Museum) and to its leader, his respect towards his professors in the country and abroad, professional consciousness, critical spirit and the desire to make an exemplary Romanian linguistic atlas. |
