| Abstract: | Reading the Bible, one can see that there are a lot of direct references and allusions, especially in the New Testament, to various precepts, events, and figures presented in the Old Testament. The main purpose of such a connection is to deepen the meaning of a certain fact that is spoken of. Our paper represents the first attempt to see if the translators of the Bible into Romanian recognized this type of connection between the New Testament and the Old Testament, and to observe how they managed to preserve the given biblical allusions and references, knowing the different theories and the specific problems of rendering the Holy Scripture into a vernacular language, and especially into Romanian, during the 17th and the 18th centuries. |
