Abstract:[The Rumanian Geographical Terminology in the 19th Century] The linguistic study brings a new image of the terminology, in general, and of the geographical terminology to the XIXe century, in particular. The approch proves that the relation between the and the concept is not necessarily a bi-univocal one. For example, the denomination of the field of geography seems not to reflect its true level of scientific development at the time. The corroboration of lexicographical information and textual information clarifies, among others, the combination between the conceptual contents and the terminological form in a field of knowledge. The definition allows the identification of the synonymic series which are a result of the existence of several sources of the terms (the internal and external loan; the linguistic copy).
