Abstract:[The stylistics of anthroponyms in ludic acts, ballads and folk tales]
The present paper aims at highlighting the significance, function and etymology of several anthroponyms that can be found in folkloric categories (children’s games, ballads, folk tales). Depending on the situational context, one can notice the existence of a flexible border between common and proper nouns. The anthroponyms designating heroes in ludic acts, ballads or folk tales may be real or imaginary, and they are meant to create confusion, shock, cause linguistic distortions and generate language games based on eurhythmic, euphonic, sonorous and expressive effects. A magical universe is revealed by means of desemantisation, anthropomorphisation, language syncretism, functional transformations and anthroponyms that have lost their conceptual content (i.e. which they used to have as appellatives). The meaningful configuration of this universe is also underpinned by anthroponyms that seem to display a particular “personality”, or individuality, which determines the characters’ fate.
