Abstract:In the present paper, we have made some observations regarding the dating of the oldest two Romanian manuscripts containing the shortened version of the Discourse by the Most Blessed Hippolytus. Following our analysis, we have reached two provisional dates: circa 1713, for ms. rom. 2513 BAR, and 1730–1736, for ms. rom. 2516 BAR. These dates, together with various aspects regarding the content of the two codices, helped us establish that ms. rom. 2516 BAR is a direct copy of ms. rom. 2513 BAR, which left the Bistriţa monastery and had no continuity in subsequent copies belonging to the shortened version. Thus, we were able to draw the final family tree of the four manuscripts that form the shortened Romanian version of the Discourse by the Most Blessed Hippolytus.
