| Abstract: | In this study, the author tries to analyze in detail phrases like la paştele cailor (meaning ‘never’) or cât ai zice peşte (meaning ‘very quickly’), which have not been studied intensively in the literature. The phrases will be interpreted both from a structural and a semantic point of view. These phrases usually occur in spoken, informal Romanian. Nevertheless, they sometimes appear in the literary language as well. Adverbial phrases of time are insufficiently examined in Romanian linguistics writings, although they amount to the individuality of Romanian among the Romance languages. Most authors fail to make an in-depth analysis of this category of phrases. |
