Abstract:The arbitrary character of the linguistic sign in any natural language is a long debated theoretic problem. I shall here present the semantic connections different speaking communities make between names of musical instruments and some other signs.
Key words:arbitrary, motivated linguistic sign, Semantics, musical instruments, metaphor
