Abstract:The fruit of passionate practice in translating theological discourse, my communication aims to highlight the difficult, but absolutely unique mission, of the Christian interpreter, who must come to express the same theandric and absolute reality in the language of the target culture. Being assisted by the corpus of two books belonging to the famous French philosopher and Orthodox theologian Jean-Claude Larchet and translated into Romanian by Marinela Bojin (“Pour une éthique de la procréation. Eléments d’anthropologie patristiqueˮ, Éd. du Cerf, Paris, 1998/ “Etica procreaţiei în învăţătura Sfinţilor Părinţi”, Ed. Sofia, Bucureşti, 2003; “Dieu ne veut pas la souffrance des hommesˮ, Éd. du Cerf, Paris, 1998/ “Dumnezeu nu vrea suferinţa omuluiˮ, Ed. Sofia, Bucureşti, 2008), I will conclude that the poiesis of the translation of this particular type of discourse clearly requires good command of an art substantiated not only scientifically, but also theologically. Engaging in this entails striving to keep, alongside the hermeneutic transfer, the originality and power of the words in the source text, its veridicality and beauty, as well as finding the most authentic balance between denotation and connotation, between an established formula and secondary meaning. All this effort on account of the fact that we are actually dealing with one sole language, pneumatic, timeless, and therefore everlasting.
