Abstract:The topic this paper has set out to explore wished to yield some insights into one chapter of the Romanian-Hungarian historical, linguistic and onomastic contacts from the point of view of current Hungarian research. The aim of the paper was to present the aforementioned topic based on representative historical and current onomastic sources: the presence, history and distribution of surnames of Romanian origin in the Hungarian surname stock. The main focus of the paper are three specific surnames (Árgyelán, Marosán and Moldován), with reference to the presence, changes, distribution and variants of these names in present-day Hungary and the territory of the historical Hungarian Kingdom and Transylvania.
