| Abstract: | [Conventional and unconventional elements in names in the public space of Săgeata village, Buzău county] Săgeata is a large village consisting of seven smaller villages, lying in the plains of Buzău County and located approximately 20 km SE of Buzău. The paper analyses conventional and unconventional aspects of naming social, economic or cultural institutions in Săgeata village. The study takes into consideration public space names of economic units, shops, agricultural associations, workshops, mills, medical institutions, individual medical practices (for human or veterinary use), names of schools, kindergartens, libraries, churches and so forth. The analysis demonstrates the diversity of the “rules” applied when naming public institutions, from typical, ordinary names of limited liability companies to personalising certain institutions by means of their names (e.g. “Nicolae Efrimescu” Secondary School, Săgeata). |
