Abstract:[Intertextual devices in the evocation of contextual meanings of some conventional anthroponyms in Romanian public space]
In contemporary public communication, there are numerous variants of surnames and forenames used to designate some Romanian political figures. These variants result from the employment of certain construction or semantic devices, whose aim is to highlight different stylistic nuances that the users/creators of the variants in question wish to convey in relation to the persons thus identified. Among these mechanisms, one can find intertextuality, which is construed as the explicit or implicit reference to previous utterances.
This paper aims at presenting such variants of conventional anthroponyms, which are used in Romanian public space and formed by means of intertextual devices. The function of the name forms is to underline certain behavioural characteristics of the name bearers. The theoretical framework of the study consists of the precepts of pragmatics, sociolinguistics and stylistics.
The illustrative material was collected from the Internet.
