Nichita Stănescu’s contributions to Romanian poetry are undoubtedly significant. Nevertheless, its influence is not well-known in Spain in general. Stănescu’s Eleven elegies have been translated to Spanish in 2000 by Ioana Zlotescu and José María Bermejo, but a wider and more precise study of his poetry was needed at present. The recent appeareance of a bilingual anthology at Amargord Ediciones (Madrid) shows that the interest in Romanian literature is happily increasing in this country in the last years.
