Abstract: | The first part of the article emphasizes the fact that Rousseau juge de Jean-Jacques is representative for the ongoing debate on sensibility in the 18th century. The second part of the paper shows that the language of the heart and feelings employed by Rousseau is in line with this literary movement and it stands at the groundwork of the argumentation. The last part reveals the author’s ability in using the words to deconstruct the image of Jean-Jacques built by his enemies and to construct the image of the real Jean-Jacques. |
