Abstract:
  • Translation is more often than not a matter of finding the right equivalent of an idea in another language. This is not an easy task because translation implies, apart from competent use of the two languages an extended knowledge of the social, cultural and historic background of the text which is being translated. The translator is also called an expert in multilingual communication, in which capacity he must resort to his intercultural competence. Very often, fragments from other texts are quoted, allusions are made, names are mentioned in the text and this happens with a good reason. It is what translators call intertextuality, a web of explicite or implicite relationship that a text has with another text.
