Abstract:The paper inquires into the literary creation of St. Teresa de Ávila, laid down in the Golden Age of Spanish Renaissance. In the poetry of Teresa de Ávila, the mystical love becomes a form of spiritual marriage and bonding, enabling privileged intimacy with the Deity. Following the unanimous belief that mysticism is an experimental form of knowledge about the divine presence in the world, the author estimates the literary prominence of the influential genre represented by the religious poetry and regards it as the cultural phenomenon that ultimately led to the creation of a pan-European literary fashion.
