Abstract: | The researched area belongs to Maramureş subdialect, spoken in the north-west area of the Daco-Romanian dialect. This dialectal area is characterized by a strong archaic feature, namely the preservation of the old language stages at the level of all compartments. As a result of the long contact between the Romanian people from this area and the speakers of Ukrainian language especially, and of Hungarian and German, there resulted a specific feature of Maramureş subdialect, mainly present in the vocabulary compartment and demonstrates once more its „open” character. Thus, we registered a considerable number of foreign elements in the vocabulary. The Ukrainian influence is the strongest, here we find original Ukrainian terminology in every activity domain, with the exception of the professions, where most of the words have Hungarian or German origin. The second influence, as frequency, is the Hungarian one, especially in the administration and civilization terminology. Ukrainian and Hungarian elements are well fixed in the vocabulary; from these the Romanian language has formed derivates, expressions and lexical families. Words of German origin are registered only in the profession terminology and less in the household object domain, and are used mostly by men and less by women. |
