| Abstract: | [Body parts as “measuring units” in Romanian cookbooks: a handful of] This text analyzes variants of the NP a handful of (Rom. o mână de, un pumn de, un mănunchi de) in Romanian cookbooks, from a diachronic perspective. These NPs are ad hoc “measuring units”, the approximate value of which is tacitly considered known by recipe readers. The presence or absence of the preposition of (Rom. de) and the pre-position or postposition of the NP proves relevant for the development of Romanian gastronomic vocabulary. |
