Abstract:[Aloglottal tolerance and its consequences on the linguistic codes used within the trade companies of Sibiu and Brașov]
The aim of the present article is to demonstrate the existence of a multi-lingual code based on Romanian used or wishfully conceived in order to be used in the 18th century commercial company based in Sibiu whose members were traditionally considered to be Greek-speaking. The massive membership by Vlachs who were obviously speaking a Romanian dialect, seems to have had an impact on this code as it had on its Greek counter-part older by at least one century.
Key words:multi-lingual code, aloglottal tolerance, pidgin
