Abstract: | [Linguistic globalisatin and anglicisation] In this article, the author aimed at establishing a distinction between linguistic globalisation and Anglicisation, two concepts that have been more and more frequently used in various researches. Thus, linguistic gobalisation is seen as a consequence of modern economic worldwide interdependency, economic trend that needs a sole means of communication; the choice of English language to fulfill this role is the result of a combination of historical circumstances. From the linguistic perspective, the phenomenon reaches certain issues of bilingualism, seen as an individual phenomenon, and not as a collective one. The second analysed concept, although having a clear tendency of internationalisation, is a phenomenon that results from the evolution of one language or another and is included in the ‘linguistic influence’ phenomenon. |
