Abstract:[Phraseological calques non-recommended in contemporary Romanian language in Bessarabia]
In the contemporary Romanian language in Bessarabia, the phraseological calque phenomenon is pretty frequent, following the intense contact between Romanian and Russian (which is actively spoken on the eastern aria of the Prut river). The fundamental criterion which is the basis of identifying a phraseological calque in Romanian of a Russian pattern is the lack of such structure in standard Romanian, but existence of its equivalent in the interaction language. Also, the presence of some phraseological lexical and grammatical elements of the Romanian language to the left of the Prut river, which are differentiated from the phraseological units in standard Romanian, but their identification in Russian is also a confirmation that the former is a calque.
Romanian language has phraseological structures that are well-known and well-defined to express one meaning or another, without the need for calques. As such, the phraseological calques in the Bessarabian Romanian are not recommended, since they uselessly double the phraseological vocabulary of standard Romanian.
