| Abstract: | [The feminization of professions names in mass media] The names of professions/occupations in the field of mass media follow the general trend of marking the formal gender opposition by a series of motional suffixes. The phenomenon of neological borrowings specific to the latest 20 years determined a relative massive linguistic import of new words with a foreign etymology ‒ especially Anglicisms ‒ in the professional vocabulary. Generally, the Anglicisms that name professions or occupations are gender-invariable: anchor editor (Rom. editor-prezentator de ştiri de televiziune), editor of the day (abbrev. EOD ‒ Rom. editorul principal de jurnal), voice-over (Rom. editor-voce), etc. |
