Abstract:The present paper parts from the Heideggerian concept of “language as the house of being human”, attempting to give a theoretical and philosopical approach (via Aristotle and Humboldt) to the contemporary phenomenon of migration and the phenomenon of abandoning the mother tongue for writing literature in a foreign language, seen as an alternative/ foreign “house of being”. We illustrated the two main directions in this regard – one, rappresented by writers such as Mircea Eliade or Norman Manea who always write in the Romanian language and continue to introduce themselves as „Romanian writers” and another one, represented by writers who abandonated their mother tongue and decided to write in the language of the adoption culture/ country.
Key words:house of being, language, migration, philosophy of language
