| Abstract: | This paper deals with the controversial variation in genitive agreement in appositional constructions. In 16th-17th century old Romanian, the apposition takes the genitive case of its anchor, repeating the possessive article – al, a, ai, ale –, but also the specific morphemes (-lui, -e). The interpretative problem is given by the fact that the genitival article (al, a, ai, ale) is syncretic to the semi-independent pronoun al. The emerging result is that the apposition does not genuinely undergo agreement with its anchor. |
