Abstract: | Apart from certain obvious common elements from Caragiale’s and Tudor Arghezi’s work and attitude, such as their patriotism and their passion for a certain stilistic architecture, specified in an article by A.E. Baconski, one can identify other important coordinates of the caragialian hypotext in the arghezian prose and playwriting, namely the satire, the grotesque, the type of the so-called “intelectual” and the absurd that anticipates Eugen Ionescu’s conversational strategies. |
