| Abstract: | My contribution points to one of the areas of study, at stake in postmodern cultural geographies: the trans-territorial meaning of identity. On the one hand it focuses on the new categories devised by cultural geography in order to approach this allegedly thorny issue. On a different level it stresses both the pitfalls and the benefits of these conceptual tools in an overview of the cultural productions of three trans-territorial authors, as different as Mircea Eliade, Marthe Bibesco, Thomas Mann and Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio – occasionally or permanently expatriates – can be. |
