| Abstract: | As far one from the other as they may be, such two images as the marchioness went out at five o’clock and the accidental meeting of a sowing machine and an umbrella on a dissection table are, from a certain point of view, alike. They harass one’s curiosity and do not cease to haunt the perplexed reader. They set in motion the processes of imagination. And this is because both are as the fragments of a lacking whole, as the pieces of a puzzle it is not possible to recreate. And this whole, this puzzle towards which they always seem to point, is their story, the story of each one of them. |
