| Abstract: | In the context of a metalexicographic approach towards a recent publication – the prestigious Romanian Illustrated Universal Dictionary in 12 volumes – this article outlines some totals and perspectives in Romanian lexicographic tradition, especially in terms of explanatory lexicography. Thus, the author expresses a series of epistemic-axiological considerations concerning some current problems of lexicographic theory and practice, namely the typology of dictionaries, double-articulated formal architecture of language dictionary, the typology and role of lexicographic entries, some theoretical principles of lexicographic representation of various classes and types of lexical units as well as those of the to-date language imaginary reflection in language dictionaries. |
