Abstract: | J.-Sp. komanya „food; vituals” is usually considered a Turkish borrowing in Balkan J.-Sp., but, given its presense also in Morocco where no Turkish influence has existed, it must date back to common (J.-)Sp., formed from (or at least influenced by) comer > komer, like old Sp. fazaña from facer (now hazaña and hacer), so that Turk. komanya could prove to be a Sephardism (like palavra „chatter”). J.-Sp. moshia, „estate”, found by Mrs. S. von Schmädel, is identified as the only (despite some illusions) sure Romanism in J.-Sp., detected so far outside Romania. Rom. pârş „dormouse” is regarded as a possible borrowing of the old Russian animal name бырсь, and Alb. zbunoj „I appease” is a sure confixal derivative of Arom. bun „good”. |
